Hungarian government officials on October 27th 2008 signed a cooperation agreement with German auto maker Daimler-Benz on a EUR 800 million production base the company plans to build in the city of Kecskemet.

In spite of the state of the global economy, Daimler-Benz did not for a minute express any doubts about its planned investment in Kecskemet, Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsany said at the signing of the contract.

Rainer Schmuckle, who heads Daimler-Benz's car division, said the company had found an appropriate and extraordinarily good base for the new factory. Construction will start in the spring of 2009.
