Hungary for ESS

“We have a high level of cooperation in the European synchrotron research program, where Hungarians, Czechs and Slovaks work very close in a consortium” – says Professor József Pálinkás.

The statement by Professor József Pálinkás, nuclear physicist and President of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, appeared in the weekly newsletter of the European Spallation Source campaign. The Hungarian bidder for the ESS emphasizes that the Central and East European cluster around the future Debrecen-located (East Hungary) neutron research facility will support regional cohesion, integration to Western Europe and also offers massive cost cuts to the European Union. Hungary, as a “cultural vortex in the heart of Europe” also promises a dense cultural life. The Newsletter also invites European decision makers to a major regional conference organized by the Ministry of National Development and Economy and the City of Debrecen between April 16 and 17, 2009, where they would have the opportunity to gain first-hand experience of the future hosts and the location of ESS.
