HUF 4.25 bn+ in Tenders for Balaton Tourism Developments

Tenders with a total value of HUF 4.25 billion for tourism developments in the area around Lake Balaton in 2009-2010 were announced on 9 July.

The tenders, in the framework of the regional operative program, aim to create products and services in line with  demands by tourists, to increase the number of attractions in the region, to enhance profitability and to find ways to offset seasonal differences in tourist numbers, said Balaton Development Council chairman Tamas Suchman.
Applications for the development funding may be submitted between September 1, 2009 and March 30, 2010. The funding will cover up to 30-85 pct of costs, depending on the region, where the developments are enacted. The smallest amount available will be HUF 20 million. The largest sum will be between HUF 100 million and HUF 450 million, depending on the type of project and the region.
Some HUF 3.7 billion in funding was spent on regional developments at Balaton last year.
