Hungary Trade Surplus Expands to EUR 653.3 Million in March

Hungary had a EUR 653.3m trade surplus in March 2010.

Hungary had a EUR 653.3m trade surplus in March 2010, up from a EUR 373.3m trade surplus in February and from a EUR 486m surplus a year earlier, the Central Statistics Office said in a second reading on Wednesday, confirming the preliminary figures in its first reading on May 10.
Both export and import grew slightly slower than in February. Export volume was up 14.8 pct yr/yr in March after a 16.9 pct plus in February, while imports grew 13.4 pct after a rise of 16.4 pct in February. In EUR terms, exports increased yr/yr by 17.8 pct to EUR 6.141bn.
78.9 pct of Hungary's March exports went into the European Union and 68,6 pct of March imports came from EU members.
The surplus of trade with EU members was EUR 2.569 bn in January-March, up from EUR 2,08 bn a year ago, while exports in EUR terms grew 15 pct yr/yr to EUR 12.763 bn and imports increased by 13 pct to EUR 10.193 bn.
