Wizz Air, the largest low-fare, low-cost airline in Central and Eastern Europe announced that it would launch new routes and increase frequencies of a number of existing services by adding a fourth Airbus A320 aircraft to its Budapest base, starting on July 24, 2010.
With the new capacity, Wizz Air offers a network of 22 routes to and from Budapest.
"Recently we have been experiencing a strong shift of customer preference towards Wizz Air in Hungary resulting from our own expansion in a declining market, as well as the weaknesses of competing airlines. Building on this momentum, we aim to achieve over 20pct passenger traffic growth in Budapest in 2010," said József Váradi, CEO of Wizz Air.
Revenue of Wizz Air rose 27pct to HUF 135 billion in the past business year. This year, Wizz Air expects the number of passengers on its Budapest flights to reach 1.2 million.
