Budapest Inaugurates EUR 429 Million Sewage Treatment Plant

Budapest Mayor Gábor Demszky inaugurated on August 2 a new central sewage treatment plant and related facilities, built for EUR 429 million.

EU funding accounted for 65pct of the investment costs, with 20 pct covered from government funds and 15 pct by the City Council.
The investment will be continued with the creation of grade-three sewage treatment and the establishment of monitoring by the end of the year. These additional investments are expected to cost EUR 62 million.
