Lower Operating Costs – Passenger Numbers Maintained at Last Year’s Level

In the first six months of 2010 Malév Hungarian Airlines’ passenger traffic was similar to that of the same period in 2009, with a total of 1.3 million customers flying on the carrier's services.

Even though there was no increase, the number of passengers still reflects an improvement in efficiency because the airlines managed to achieve the same result with 16 pct fewer flights and increased the average load factor by 3.5 pct. The airline company also cut its costs by a significant amount – EUR 16.6 million – in the first half of this year compared with the January–June 2009 figure.
