Consumer Prices Decreased 0.6pct in August

In August 2010, consumer prices decreased 0.6pct on the previous month. They rose 3.7pct on August 2009.

In the first eight months of 2010, the average increase of prices was 5.2pct, compared to the corresponding period of year 2009.    
According to harmonized data, annual inflation in the 27 member states of the EU was 2.1pct in July 2010, compared to July 2009. The lowest annual rates were observed in Ireland (-1.2pct) and Latvia (-0.7pct); the highest rates were in Romania (7.1pct) and Greece (5.5pct).
