Deliotte Research: 63 Hungarian Companies among the Top 500 of the CEE Region

International consultancy firm Deloitte listed 63 Hungarian companies among the 500 largest in the CEE region.

Hungarian oil company Mol Nyrt. ranked second behind Poland’s PKN Orlen and ahead of CEZ, the Czech oil company. Another eight firms operating in Hungary have made it into the top 50, such as Nokia Komarom, Audi Hungaria, GE Hungary, E.ON Földgáz Trade, Samsung Electronics, Magyar Telekom, Philips Industries and MVM. Deloitte’s report says the companies operating in Hungary showed the greatest resilience when faced with the financial crisis which cut 2009 revenues by a 21 pct average in the CEE region. The assessment concludes that despite the crisis, the CEE region still holds some reasonable advantages over the Western European countries, such as a trained, relatively low-cost labor force, modern production facilities built over the recent years, and a banking sector mostly unaffected by the financial crisis.
