December Surplus Raises Hungary’s 2009 Trade Surplus to EUR 4.57 Billion

According to the first reading of the Central Statistics Office, published on Tuesday, Hungary had a EUR 375 million trade surplus in December, which means that the trade surplus for 2009 amounts to EUR 4.57 billion. 

The Trade Balance Improved by HUF 150 Billion and Showed a Surplus of HUF 124 Billion

In October 2009, according to first estimates, exports amounted to HUF 1,535 billion (EUR 5,705 million), while the value of imports reached HUF 1,412 billion (EUR 5,241 million).

Trade Balance Showed a Surplus of HUF 944 Billion in January–September

Trade balance showed a surplus of HUF 944 billion (EUR 3,314 million), which meant an improvement of HUF 979 billion (EUR 3,485 million) compared to the deficit of HUF 35 billion (EUR 172 million) in January-September 2008, the Central Statistics Office said on December 2.

Sales of ham produced from Mangalitsa hogs raised in Hungary is expected to reach between 1,000 and 2,000 in 2009, National Association of Mangalitsa Breeders President Peter Toth told MTI.
